Festival of Thrift

Latest Edition launches this weekend at the Festival of Thrift, Kirkleatham.

Thrifty Tips Broadside

The opportunity to work with the Navigator North team and 5 other artists has been a collaborative one.  We have all been responding to the environment of Kirkleatham Museum, Redcar within the frame work of the Festival of Thrift.  Pulling together a range of work that responds to this brief, we have all utilised our established skills with the aim to be ambitious in our approach and stretch our experience as artists.

Thrifty Tips Broadside will be on sale accompanying the exhibition Reading Wheels, consisting of re-cycled cable wheels.  Many of the reels have been kindly donated by Percy’s Middlesbrough, (who will also be at the festival) as well as Trojan Electrics in Newcastle and Steve Votadini, a fantastic electrician also based in Newcastle.

Reading Wheels presents a collection of artists’ book objects referencing the archives & library at Kirkleatham Museum, the history of industrial printmaking and Thrifty Tips supplied by visitors to the 2013 Festival of Thrift working with Kay Henderson.
