Robert Smail’s Residency comes to an end

The residency, Future/Past, at Robert Smail’s Printing Works, I have been part of for the past 6 months finally comes to an end, but it is the beginning of a year long celebration for this Scottish National Trust property in Innerleithen.

For me its the beginning of numerous projects lined up in the months ahead incorporating typesetting and printmaking into social engagement projects such as the Jarrow Festival at Jarrow Library.   Marking 80 years since the Jarrow Crusade, I will be working with young people at Jarrow Library to print their own Jarrow March broadsides and mini placards using an Adana Printing press.

Printed Chap Books using typesetting, silk screen printing & lithography are in the planning as part of a collaborative project with creative writers…..more coming soon!

The continual development of political and social broadsides in my studio practice is an excellent way to engage the public at open studio events such as the Late Shows, Open Studios and the Artists’ Book Market at BALTIC

I will be exhibiting a new series of traditionally typeset and printed broadsides at the next Artist’s Book Market at BALTIC Satruday 18th & Sunday 19th June 2016.  Save the date!
