Poppies Weeping Window – Woodhorn Museum
Poppies Weeping Window will be coming to an end soon (last day 31st October). Inside the Workshop Gallery at Woodhorn, visitors have been encouraged to leave their personal responses to the poppies. Using original archive material from Woodhorn, relating to WW1, I have designed a selection of stamps for visitors to illustrate their remarks and comments. The stamps document the tribunals set up to judge and order men from the North East to France & Belgium. Other stamps document the list of jobs women were allowed to do, the pamphlet increases in size as the years progress.
A Polish visitor wrote “Good wishes for all the miners…from Poland” signed Piotrek.
