The first of this Summer’s Print & Book Binding Workshops kicked off at 36 Lime Street last Saturday in Theresa Easton’s new 2nd Floor studio space.

The sun was shinning and participants were keen to crack on with their individual projects and ideas.  With a brief introduction to artist’s books and techniques from Theresa, it was on to demonstrating a whole range of simple printmaking techniques and ideas.  The plan was to experiment, try out ideas and if needed, design a specific book working on a one-to-one with Theresa.

Using good quality water based inks from Graphic Chemical, the prints soon dried in the afternoon sun, ready to be stitched, folded and glued into a whole series of books, with participants making 5  pieces of work in an hour and a half!

There are a couple of places left on the next one day workshop, August 18th, 10-4pm 36 Lime Street.  If you can’t make that date why not pop down to the Ouseburn on 22nd July  and have a go at making your own Ouseburn print based on the plants growing in the valley and enjoy the Ousebrun Festival while you are at it!  Exhibiting in the gallery will be a collaborative project with Theresa Easton & Inchio`stro (Milan based small publishing house) who will be on hand, making new work and talking to visitors.
